My Dog has fleas. Has anyone used biospot? I heard (after I bought it) that it doesn't work very well.?

I gave him one application 2 days ago, but I saw 2 fleas on his belly this morning. How long is it supposed to take to get rid or them and at what point should I give him a bath and a new flea medicine? Help him! He's just a baby!
Answers:
Is biospot generic? As in bought from Wal-mart? If so don't use it. They use real pesticide and can cause all kinds of problems with your pet. (My friend's cat had an allergic reaction to it and the vet said that the reason was because they had pesticides in them and could make them sick or have an allergic reaction.)

I would suggest asking your vet and buying the flea medication he suggests. It will work well and in the long run be a lot cheaper because it will work the first time around instead of keep trying "trial" flea medications.

Also, you may need to get something for your house. Flea bombs or even the product sold to kill fleas in your carpets will work well to kill any fleas that may cause reinfestation with your puppy.
i would use frontline it kills all fleas in 24 hours and if used once a month stops them for life
Frontline is the way to go but animal needs to stay dry for 24hrs before and after. Check with you vet on reappling more pesticides it could be fatal
LUCKY YOU YOUR DOG MAY HAVE FLEAS BUT AT LEAST IT GETS TO LIVE!
Frontline is the best
Never use BioSpot or any other flea treatment sold at WalMart. Only buy it from a veterinarian. I work at an animal hospital and we recommend Frontline. It should kill all fleas w/in 24 hours and lasts for one month. Whoever said in their answer that it kills them forever is wrong. One application lasts one month. After you apply it make sure to keep you pet dry for at least 48 hours.
1. How young is this dog?? Most flea products are not safe for dogs under 4 months old.

2. Biospot is an over-the-counter treatment, which is not as effective as the treatments you can buy from your vet. IF your dog is old enough (ask the vet for his opinion) buy some Frontline Plus or Advantix for your dog.

3. DO NOT APPLY ANY MORE BIOSPOT FRONTLINE OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR 4 WEEKS! You could poison your dog!

4. Go to the petstore and buy a flea comb and a bottle of flea spray. It can be for the dog or the yard, it doesn't matter because you're not putting it on the dog anyway. Put some in a shallow dish, and run the comb over the dog. Drown all the fleas you catch in the bowl of flea spray. It can be tedious, but it's the safest way to go.

5. If you're still having a big problem in a week or two, buy some flea shampoo. If your dog is 6 months or younger, make sure you find puppy flea shampoo! If he's older than 6 months, you can use adult flea shampoo. Don't let it get in his eyes, and make sure he soaks in it for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.

Make sure you treat your house and yard as well, or you may have more problems.
I highly recommended using the frontline.
You get what you pay for.

Better to use advantage or frontline
hi,i have 2 pitbulls.2yrs old i have had them since 4 wks old and i have used frontline on them and they have never had fleas.u give them a bath bfore giving the treatment.its cheap to.i pay $12.00 dollars for a 3 month supply for one dog,it is so cheap and it works but u can only buy it a veternarians office.but i promise it works.thanx for listening. heather_spencer85@yahoo.com
I use Bio Spot and have for over ten years. I use it on my 3 dogs and on all the rescues that I have had. It does work. I do start useing it before my dogs get fleas. The fleas would have left your dog within 24 hrs, however, if you have them in your carpet, they are still looking for a meal and will jump on the dog. You need to treat your house also!

My dog has fits is there a tablet to stop the fits?

My Labrador is 2 years old he has had all the tests for epilepsy and all have come back negative, yet he still has the fits about one a week, sometimes he has 3 or 4 one after the other,We have spent 拢2000 on vet fees and have no answers. He has been on Mysolin and is now on 1000mg of bromide and still fitting. Can anyone help.
Answers:
What does your dog eat? Kibble/dry dog food/tinned food?? If so, try stopping the kibble completely and put the dog on a fresh, mostly raw diet. I work in nutrition, and have helped many dogs get over their fits just by changing their diet. My own two dogs also suffered fits when they started eating dry food many years back. I took them off it and the fits stopped. When I went away on a long holiday, they had kibble again (different type)and the fits started again. Since then they have been on a raw meat/vegetables/soaked or cooked oats diet, and they have not had any fits since. It's easy, saves me whopping food or vet bills, and most of all, my dogs are fit and healthy with shiny coats. Too many dogs are being medicated when it is not necessary and all they need is not to be fed what is causing their problems. Don't feed any wheat, corn or soya - ( all contained in manufactered dog foods) - these are all genetically modified foods which animals' bodies have a hard time accepting.
Many people do not realise what goes into manufactured dog foods - the addtiives and preservatives in these foods affect the liver, kidneys, circulatory and nervous systems of your pets and cause many health problems. If you really, really MUST feed a ready prepared food, try buying one which is totally organic, has no synthetic preservatives, and no soy, wheat and corn - these are substituted with rice or oats in the better diets.
Please do try changing your dog's diet. It may make the world of difference and save both you and your pet a whole load of trouble and heartache. I hope this helps and wish you and your dog all the best.
I suggest you see another vet for a second opinion.
dont think i can help but i have a large dog and he has been on phenobarbital since he was 1 and a half years old for seizures.hes almost 4 now and still has them every now and then.the meds only controls them to the dog having less seizures.have you had your dogs blood count checked? i have to take my dog every 6 months to be checked.maybe you need to find another vet.
i am suprised they never even gave the poor dog a trail of anti epileptic medication
i agree with other answer get a 2nd opinion
definitely go back to the vets, have they actually seen the dog when he been fitting? if not then I would have thought they`d keep him in under observation to get to the root of the problem, after the amount of money you spent already, they should do more for it, hope you get it sorted ok
You may need to find another vet that may find something else wrong. There are lots of things that cause seizures. You lab may have a tumor or growth that is causing his fits. He may also have a birth defect of some sort that is causing them. I would definitely be taking him to a different vet.
My dog is 13 and has had epilepsy all her life .She takes phenobarbital, and when she has a bad one(more than 5 minutes) I have injectable Valium to give her(prescription from her vet). She took potassium bromide for a while, along with her phenobarbital, but as she has aged she has fewer ,less severe seizures,so I stopped it .Dogs are not all the same, and maybe the bromide isn't the right drug for your dog.If your vet has done an x-ray of the dogs brain and found no tumor, then I would ask to try the dog on phenobarbital.Good luck.
my saint Bernard started with epilepsy just over two years ago. He started on mysolin but only stopped fitting when he started taking epilease and epiphen. Hasn't had a single fit for two years now
Ive had two dogs that have been epileptic, both of which were on mysolin. However I found that for one of them changing his diet cured him totally. I went from giving him tinned food and biscuits to complete dried food and he never had a fit again, he lived till he was 17 years old.
It would be worth giving it a try but I'd changed vets too.

my dog has excessive stool movements 10-12 a day. poor food quality or health issue?

1 year old lab
Answers:
Please take your dog to the vet. This is absolutely not normal. it could be worms/parasites, poor food, or a major health problem. Take a stool sample to the vet appointment. make sure your dog is getting plenty of liquids to help keep hydrated. As far as the food, you didn't mention the brand, but here are some tips:As a rule of thumb, avoid all foods that contain any of the following: corn, wheat, soy, sorghum, and any type of by-products.They are very hard on the digestive system. Chances are anything sold at walmart or the grocery store are bad for the dog. Pet Smart and Pet Co are good places to find healthy food. But if you don't have one local try to find something such as Natural Life at Walmart. They are more expensive, but your dog will actually eat less because they will be getting all the good nutrients.
Well, it would help if we knew what you were feeding it.
That's not right in a lab so young. It could be both. But take a stool sample to your vet so they can check it for worms or whatever. I'd make an appt as well to have the vet check him out.
Sounds like a health issue to me. At the very least call you vet and ask them over the phone about this situation. They might tell you to bring your dog in for a check up or tell you what food to get for him.
that's definetly not normal, take it to the vet..
I would talk to your vet about that, it could be a health issue. Perhaps some kind of intestinal problem, you should not procrastinate in checking into this. Bowel problems in dogs are a serious matter they can lead to long term issues.
Sounds like diarrhea. perhaps he has ascaris or some sort of parasite that causes excessive needs to poop. Like someone else said, take a sample and take it to a veterinarian for an examination.
He needs to be taken to a vet.
What in the world are you feeding your dog? This just ain't right. How often are you feeding your dog? My dog ate a whole powdered can of slim fast and didn't poop that much. Seek a vets opinion. Good luck
Could be poor quality food.
Another consideration is, do you free feed? A dog's system works on "food in - food out". Dogs that free feed will have more stools than one who is fed only once a day.
As long as the stool is solid, I don't think that you have a problem.
GO TO A VET ! It could be either but your dog could become dehydrated and malnourished and die!
It could be a health issue or the food, I would discuss this with my vet. Good Luck.
I would say get to the Vet,because it sounds like a health issue. While poor quality foods can increase the amount of stool, and cause more bowel movements per day,I have never heard of it causing that many.10-12 per day is a very excessive amount, and it's very unlikely it's caused by the food.

My dog has dry skin and its making him itchy, what can i do to help him stop itching?

i have a 4month old year old yorkie, he has really dry skin and he scratches alot. which is causeing him to get dandruff. what can i do to help keep his skin mosturized and how do i get rid of the dandruff?
Answers:
My dog has the same problem and the dog I had previously as well. They were chows,. With the first one I would take him to the vets and he would get a shot that would last for about 10 days and then he would start prednisone course (7-10 days) and this would keep him itch-less for a few months. We had to do this four or five times a year. With the second dog we have tried a little different protocol, we did get her the shot but, soon after that she needed her hair done and summer was here so i asked the vet to give her a puppy cut which cuts her hair down to about 1/2 inch from her skin (chows have three layers of hair) when i went to pick her up she acted like a puppy and this continued for months and we had no itching problems but, when the hair grew out the itches came back. It probably is an allergy but, this might help as yorkies need extensive grooming and have long hair as well. I looked up yorkies and I see that cutting their hair might not be what you would want to do but, there is always the medication route. good luck. I just read the other answers and it surprises me how often people wash their dogs. Mine go swimming and get baths when absolutely needed. I think (but, am not sure) that all that bathing would dry up the natural oils. I also feed my dogs a diet of hamburger, rice, barley, garlic, flax seed oil and fresh veggies to help as well.
dont bathe him too much-and make sure ur shampoo has oatmeal in it
he also might have allergies, ask the vet if he needs medication
We find that adding cod liver oil to our golden reteiver's food helps. She has the same problem. It could also be a food allergy. If you have him on a chicken diet, change to a lamb, or vice versa. Make sure you have quality food.
try moisturizing doggie shampoo
When an animal has skin problems it may be the food you are feeding him. I suggest you find the best natural food (always read labels) and see if things change in a few weeks.

You can add some olive oil to the food too, no more than a teaspoon, to help with dry skin and better digestion.

Also, make sure that if you are bathing your dog (I hope you do!) that you are using a mild shampoo designed for dogs and nothing harsh. Many of the store bought products from the big name companies has harsh chemicals in them and the food is horrid. Be a good mommy and read labels to protect your pet.
Try not to bathe him to much for that might be causing his skin to get dry. Also try using Cocoa butter shampoo and conditioner for dogs. Or if it gets worse, ask your vet what kind of lotions or cremes you can use to help his dry skin.
I agree with Wherwolf.cod liver oil should help your dog's skin
do what you would do with a kid that has chicken pox. Bathe him in an oatmealbath. also he might have to change his diet my dog has dry skin to so we put her on a holistic dog food called Egalpack. she loves it. It has chicken and fish plush some fruits that help her skin. For the dandruff try to brush him atleast once a day and mabey with a change indiet and doggie bathes his skin will improve.
Most of above, and keep your heating down, get rid of plug in air fresheners,( cause skin allergies) and cod liver oil!
There are special medical shampoos you can buy at either the vet or the pet store for dry skin. But also remember, don't wash your dog too much because you'll be washing away all the good oils that they need to moisturise their fur.
What moisturiser are you using, does it contain some nasty chemical ingredients that are doing more damage than good? What is the diet like, is it all commercial, if you answered yes - this is where your problem lies. Try feeding a more natural diet, I like to feed mine on organic chicken mince and to this I add a number of fruits and vegetables, I add egg yolk only, grated raw carrot, grated cheese (not too much), cut up lettuce and or grass from the back yard, cooked pumpkin and or sweet potato, (Definitely no potato), a little avocado, some peas and beans, crushed garlic etc. Try staying clear of any ingredients that contain alcohol and or fragrance, I use organic shampoo (the one that I use for the family) on the dogs, have had no skin problems. Add some 100% pure coconut oil in with the food, yes it is bloody expensive but less than the vet bill (I use Nui brand, pronounced new, obtained from local health food store.
All the very best to you both.
Get ur vet informed. Mine injected my dog with a multivitamine stuff and it worked.
Give him a bath, if that doesn't work take him to the veterinarian.
First, consult with your vet. He's awful young and other issues should be ruled out.
There are products that work great. 3-V caps is one. Derm Caps is another. Basically an omega 3 fatty acids / fish oil supplement. This is something that would have to be given for life, so please consult with your vet about what is best.
Shampoos and topical sprays (with steroids or tea tree oil) can offer a few minutes relief, although shampoos tend to irritate more than soothe.

For a fast, natural, dog allergy treatment, try Skin-eze鈩?chewable tablets for dogs. Also effective to use - Skin-eze Shampoo, Skin-eze Spray, and Skin-eze Oil O3
My dog has dry skin too, try giving it a oatmeal bath, it helped my dog alot!
check out a local pet store like petsmart or petco for medicated shampoos, try something with oatmeal in it. It should definately help
My dog had dandruff. Vet told me to give her fish oil pills. We bought them specifically from the vet as they were made for dogs. It got rid of the dandruff w/ in a month. Occasionally I still give my dogs fish oil and my new vet okayed giving them human fish oil pills (it's cheaper).

The dog who had dandruff got several fish oils pills a day, but she was 60lbs. For a small dog, I'd start w/ one pill, cut it open and pour the oil or 1/2 of the oil on your dog's food (yorkie's too small to swallow pills w/ treat). Make sure you get fish oil that says it is mercury free. I also prefer fish oil that says it is taken from ocean fish and not farmed fish. (btw, I get my fish oil from Costco and I know what they sell says this on their label). You could also ask your vet about dosage.

And finally, I had considered using dandruff shampoo on my dog to help her, but my vet says not to use human shampoo on dogs. Use detergent free shampoo. Human shampoo too harsh and washes away too much of the oils. Detergent free is hard to find (can only find it online--most dog shampoos at stores have detergents) so even though it's not completely detergent free, I sometimes use Baby Shampoo w/ no problems. It helps not to irritate my dog's skin. I have also heard good things about Buddy Wash which you may be able to find in a health food store. Or buy shampoo from your vet.
take it 2 the VET

my dog has dry flaking skin ..?

the vet said it was due to his body adjusting to the wether in Canada, as he is from Louisiana.
but- it looks yukky and he obviously flakes all over the place. ive tried brushing him, but it seems to make it worse. Ive tried bathing him and it helps for a day or two- but you cant bath a dog more than about every 6 weeks. how long will it take my dog to adjust to the new environemtn, and what can i do in the meantime?? HELP!
Answers:
Hi There;

You can actually bath a dog more then every six weeks. You just have to make sure that you are using a professional quality dog shampoo. It almost sounds like your dog has what is called walking dandruff. My first reaction would be to flea shampoo him and wash all his bedding etc. Walking dandruff is actually a mite which feeds on dead skin however sometimes it is over produced and causes more dandruff then what it can eat. Therefore flea shampoo kills this mite as it is a pesticide. The other thing I would reccommend is having the dog flea shampooed at least once more three weeks from the first one.

The only other reccommendation that I can make on this condition is to make sure you or your groomer are using a sensitive skin shampoo if the above treatment doesn't help.

Hope this helps. If you need any more information please just post to me
You should try using a good shampoo for humans. Try either Nioxin or Regenix (which seems to cure dandruff) for the poor pooch. There is no harm in using any human shampoo on him, particularly if it helps make him more comfortable.
try not giving him a bath so often
Go to your local pet shop and check out the skin supplements there. You will probably find some clear capsules that you can poke a hole in and pour over his dog food. This will help. And get a sensitive skin dog shampoo or puppy shampoo and a conditioner for dry skin for dogs and bathe him weekly until it is better. Give the capsule contents daily. I dont know what brands they offer in Canada. DO NOT use human shampoos on your dog. The ph balance is very different in human skin and dog skin and you could cause his skin to burn or make him sick licking himself dry afterward .
They have wonderful dog shampoos and conditioners for dry skin at your pet shop.
My 3 month old Beagle has the same problem and the vet stated it is due to weather and environment changes. He suggested mixing some cod liver oil in her dog food and that will help.
I don't know if this is even good to try but i did it and it worked.I added to the dog's dry food a teaspoon of olive oil and mix once a day for a while and it worked. I never asked the vet but feel free to mention it. Good luck.
Using a shampoo for humans can also dry out their skin. And I would think you would give your dog a bath more than every 6 weeks, if you don't, doesn't your dog stink? Make sure you get all the soap off your dog. It might not be dry skin, it might be dander, a soap build up.
depending on what kind of dog it is, you can bathe the dog every week. use a oatmeal shampoo. don't use a detergent based one.
Try and not bathe him as much. Try a lamb and rice food, it's really good for the skin. You may want to put some fish oil in his food too, just a tablespoon. This will help there skin. My three pugs have skin problems and this seems to work the best.

My dog has died?

And I can't afford to bury it at a pet cematery so when i bury it in my back yard will my house be haunted, because it always feels warmer at the end of my bed ever since he died
Answers:
He won't haunt you.I like to plant a rose or decorative shrub over the dogs I have buried..It seems a nice way to remember them..
I am so sorry for your loss..
No. You loved you dog. He will never haunt you. read more-
http://www.shortwriteups.com/
I dont think where your dogs buried will make a difference whether he is a ghost or not. Perhaps he just dosent want to leave you. You coould try talking to him, and tell him your gonna bury him somewhere nice at home where he liked and that after that he should go on to his doggy heaven, or off and have some adventures somewhere (if you dont like the idea of him still being about).
No haunting. Must bury it deep enough though. The spirits of our deceased pets do not haunt us, maybe the memories will bother us for some time. Oh, I'm sure he is still around and watching you sleep. Why not?
Your dog isn't going to haunt you, he's/she's your dog and I would like to think that you loved him/her. I don't think it matters one bit what you do with the body after they're gone. Their little spirit will live on, just like ours. Who knows, maybe it is him/her on your bed, giving and receiving comfort and love just like it did when it was alive and with you. Sorry for your loss, they truly do become a part of our family.
I'm sorry for your loss. the dog loved you and it seems you love him too. it may feel warm cause his precious spirit is with you to comfort you. he loved you why would he haunt you? just keep him in your heart and the love will never die. he is in heaven now and is looking upon you proudly. burying him in a special place at his home will be just the right place so you are with each other always.
That is so weird because my dog just died 3 wks ago and I felt the same way. I couldn't even sleep the 1st night because I felt that way. He died in my house but he used to sleep in my brothers bedroom a lot, which is now my room. But no, your house will not be haunted unless if you probably want it to. I mean I'm sure every know and then you'll probably hear a sound that will seem scary and you'll think your dogs haunting your house. I just think you need some time to heal because your so used to having them around and all the sudden there is something missing. Give yourself some time to grieve and adjust to things.
I am sorry your dog has passed on. We had to have a 16 y. o. dog put to sleep today.

Dogs are very loyal. They don't leave us permanently when the die. They come and visit and make sure that we're OK.

May be that is haunting, since it's a spiritual visitation, but it's not spooky unless you're looking to be spooked! But, I always consider that haunting is by a spirit unknown to you which has evil intent.
Hello- I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Your Buddy will be with you always. No- your house will not be haunted. The warm spot is LOVE.

Take Care!!
As others have stated, your dog will not haunt you but he will visit you because he does love you and will forever be your companion. One of our cats recently died; he was killed by a coyote and we found him out in the front yard. We got him cremated and spread his ashes under his favorite tree (he always used to hang out under it and watch the birds). We still feel him around, sleeping on our bed, rubbing up against our leg and even sometimes hear him meow. He just wants our attention, just as your dog still wants your attention. It's very much like losing a family member, they won't "haunt" you persay but they will visit you and comfort you in your times of need. Our loved ones, even when they die, never truly leave us. As for you not being able to afford burring (sp?) your pet in a cemetary, maybe you should look in to having him cremated so you can keep the ashes or spread them in your backyard, however you wish to handle that. It cost us roughly 50 dollars to get our cat cremated, which from what I understand, is much less expensive than having them burried in a pet cemetary. I'm sorry for your loss but just keep in mind, he will always be with you in spirit.
Something to consider is your muni might not allow a burial. However a lot of animal controls will take remains for free and creamate them, but you wont get anything back. Sorry for your loss of your little fur-buddy.
im so sorry about your dog, i just lost my puppy about 2 weeks ago, its weird I thought the same thing, I kept thinking he was in the house. If you can bury him in the yard, Im pretty sure he wont haunt you, its just you missing him.
NO unless U killed it, i can't see that happening. Why don't u go out and get another one, nothing can replace the one u had, but it might just help u in the long run. I AM very sorry for ur loss tho, i DO know exactly how u feel.
Thats looney talk. That is impossible so don't let it get to you.
I'm sorry for your loss.you must try to passed this moment.what it was it is happened without your desire
Don't be so superstitious.
sorry that your dog died i have never had a dog that has passed come back to haunt me maybe i was just lucky
Im really sorry 4 yr dog. When i lost a dog, i also felt bad n got ze feeling zat itis still there. As sme1 has said above, plant sme flowers where u bury yr dog. With time u'll b able 2 pass on its death. Gud luck
no because it loved u guys very much
No, your back yard won't be haunted. I buried a baby that I miscarried in the yard. Will that haunted?

My dog has diahhrea and it happens mostly at nite. Anyone out there maybe know why??

My poochie wakes me up at least 3 times a nite with this problem. I would like to try a couple of different things before I go to the vet.
Answers:
what are you feeding your dog? if you email me i can try to help you. but you really didnt give a lot of information to go on. try feeding her dry dog food only. my dog gets diarrhea every time he eats canned food. dont let her eat, lets say, 2 or 3 hours before you're going to bed. but definetely dont feed her the wet food. its no good for dogs. gives all sorts of intestional and dental problems. dry stuff might not be as interesting but its a lot more healthy. i reccommend beneful. if you feed her human food that might be a problem too. dogs stomach dont digest our food like our stomachs do. she might have an intestional problem that your vet would know about. if its only at night, then i dont think thats it. it really sounds like youre feeding her your dinner scraps, like i said thats not good. if you need any more help, feel free to drop me a line! luvn_bois_is_sin@yahoo.com
he may have colitis i advise getting him to vet asap plus he will be dehydrated
try feeding her earlier, and be consistent with the type of food you give her.
How old?

What is his diet?

What is his vaccination status?

Can't try anything without information. Diarreha isn't an illenss - it is a symptom.
His system may not like what you are feeding him. Try boiled rice with cooked hamburger in it. rinse the fat off the hamberger. It calms their stomaches.
I have two dogs that have very sensitive stomachs. Any type of people food will cause them to have diahhrea. My vet has me feed them cooked rice mixed with cottage cheese for a few days to settle down their stomachs. The key is to make sure they are staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water. I would suggest taking them into the vet, though. I always play it safe with stuff like that.
Do you possibly feed it canned food towards the evening? I know my dog would get diarrhea when I fed him canned food.
He might have a stomach virus, but think about if you leave any food scraps behind after you hit the hay?
My doggy cheyenne cot into the garbage and ate my b/f's burgur king burger

I'll just tell you this
BURGER KING IS POISON
try not feeding for 1 whole day then feed him chicken and rice
If your friend died, the dog is probably stressed. Perhaps he used to sleep with your friend and he is all confused now, in addition to being sad. His whole little doggie life has just been turned upside down.

Call the dog's regular vet. They may have some ideas you can try without bringing him in and spending money.

Try feeding him some brown rice mixed in with his dog food. That will help firm up his stools and hopefully cut down on the frequency. Make sure he's drinking plenty of water, because he'll get dehydrated if he's having diarrhea and not drinking.
It may have a parisite!! Bring the poor thing to your local vet.Or it may be the varity and quality of food( no table scraps!)
Try and get her the Eukanuba intestinal diet. Never give her milk as this causes diahhrea
Good luck and I hope your doggy get鈥檚 better real soon!!

My Dog Has Diabetes? he is going blind can I handle this .Crying owner?

Can I handle this..Crying dog owner. He is going blind.
Answers:
This is very heartbreaking to tell you, myself being a doglover also, but you probably have to get him put to sleep. It would be different if he was just blind. I think they have laser eye sugery for dogs (very expensive). Diabetes is very fatal to the dog. Believe me, I had a 12yr old toy poodle that was the same way. I had him since I was 6. It broke my heart when it got old. I tried to keep him alive, but he got so blind he started walking into walls and crying because of the pain. He was my best friend. It hurt so bad and no dog can take that place. It's better for the animal to go to heaven then live in pain. I'm so sorry.
kick his
Please read the answer to your other question on the same topic
You poor thing its not easy just be there for him/her they will get used to it. Spend as much time with them as you can.

:-) Chin up they sense when your upset
Sorry to hear about your pet. Its never easy when they are sick and reaching old age. Try and remember all the good times you had. Give your dog a hug for me.
Dogs have an amazing way of adapting to handicaps, and they depend on their sence of smell a lot anyway to get them around. Calm down, you might be surprized how well your dog does.
Sure you can. Just do what you can to help him in any way you can. My late elderly cat lost her hearing toward the end, and I found myself using some hand signals to try to show her what was going on. She got so she understand my hand signals, and live a couple of years that way. It is sad, but it becomes a part of life.

There are - what - millions of people who have had to watch their parents lose their sight or their legs to diabetes - and they manage to handle it. People handle stuff.

Have your cry, and then treat your dog with kindness and do your best when it comes to his losing his sight. He knows you and his house and whatever else is around, and he'll find some way to adjust. Just as many people who have disabilities would want, your dog would probably want you to know he'll still be him.
I think your dog is getting cataract which is sequelae of hyperglycemia or diabetes in dogs. Have u been giving insulin to ur dog? How old is ur dog? If u haven't tried insulin, visit a Vet n start it. If it hasnt worked, visit Vet Opthalmologist for eye exam and if u have tried both.then u have reason to cry..I m sorry in that case my friend !
Hello there, Im so so sorry for your dog . My parents have a 7 yr old pure breed lab that is blind she went blind about 9 months ago from diabities.

Her dog "truckie" adapted better then my mom dad. It its amazing what dogs can do . His ears will get so much better because he will depend on his ears now. Her dog knows his away around the house and such things like that. Now if you dont have a fence or a electric fence up * which my mom has* YOu will need to be out there with him just to make sure he dont hurt himself or run out into the road,

Now depending on your dog's age they can do eye surgery for your dog and replace their site. Its about 1200 a eye here in Ohio , but the dog has to be under control of his diabities , and they will do testing on the dog first to make sure the surgery will work for him. If you are interested let me know and I can get the info for you.

Your dog will be fine, you will just have to be a little more patient with him, and if its like my mom's dog he will follow you around alot more to feel more secure.

If you need help or questions for me feel free to email me and I can help you if you would like

And no you dont have to put your dog to sleep just because he went blind. When I was growing up we had a dog that lived 8 yrs after he went blind and was a very healthy dog just couldnt see .

My dog has dandruff help ?

my dog has een itching latly in her back and she has lots of dandruff and bits of dry skin are falling off her i used to batth her once a week and heard bathing dogs constantly gives them dandruff so know i bath her once every two weeks but she still has dandruff is there anything I can do to help her skin.
Answers:
Look closely at the food you're feeding her, if it doesn't have quality ingredients such chicken or lamb meal in the first four list ingredients, and if it has filler like corn or wheat, then she probably isn't getting the right nutrition needs for her body. Fish oil is very good to add to her food, I add tuna once a week and yogurt to my dogs food, and I feed them a high quality food, and bathe them every 3-4 weeks, as needed, but with good nutrition, their skin and coat don't need as much maintenance. The first sign of poor nutrition in an animal shows up in their skin %26 coat. and PLEASE don't use bacon grease, it is way to hard for a dog to digest
Yes, do not bath your dog so often, even every two weeks its to frequent. I would say once every 2.5 to 3 weeks. The dandruff will go if you do this. Also make sure your using doggie shampoo.
You can go to any pet store and purchase medicaded shampoo.
Sometimes this will do the trick. Also they sell a vitamin for
dogs coats called brewers yeast. When you bath her make sure
to rinse thouroughly, sometimes if shampoo is left it can cause
this. hope this helps
wash your dog with head %26 sholders (dandrif control) twice a week
dont give your dog a bath every two weeks, give your dog one every month or so and use a moisturizing shampoo that doesnt dry your dogs skin thats what i use. And if you want to keep your dog clean use a soft brush every other day
Put bacon grease in her food. Not a whole lot just a spoon full every day for a while. I don't know why it works but it does.
Make sure to check for fleas, but an oatmeal shampoo should help the itching and dryness
DOG SHAMPOO
My dog had that same problem. I gave her Omega 3 fatty acids pills and now she's much better. Also I use a special kind of sentitive skin dog shampoo called Allermyl by Verbac.
use head %26 shoulders

my dog has black spots on his tongue that appears to be growing what can be the cause of it?

Answers:
There are many other breeds that have black on the tongue besides a Chow

Other breeds that can have black or purple on their tongues include :

Shar-Pei, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, Siberian Husky, Rottweiler, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Newfoundland, Collie, German Shepherd, Akita, Belgian Sheepdog, Tervuren, Malinois, Fila Brasileiro, Cairn Terrier, Great Pyrenees, Keeshond, Airedale, Doberman Pinscher,
Bouvier de Flandres, Australian Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, Pug, Shiba Inu, Dalmatian, Flat-coated Retriever, Gordon Setters

.
I've had several mix-breed dogs in my life that the Vet's say means, they have some Chow in there somewhere, don't know if that's true or not, but.
Your dog is probably part Chow. They're known for having black on their tongue. Don't worry about it, several of my dogs have had this and it wasn't bad.
Agreed, the dog is probably part Chow. My dog has some black on her tongue and the vet said that means she's part Chow. It's nothing to worry about.

Now, if it's oozing stuff, well that's different but if it just looks like it's part black then it's no big deal.
my belgium shepard had one too. some breeds can get them. thats all. its no big deal. my ausy shep has a really little one. i think its like humans who have geographical tongues. i have one of them. its really weird and there isnt much that can be done about it, and there is no reason behind it, it just happens.
I have a Golden Retriever that has two black spots on her tongue.

My dog has begun to chew on my clothing recently why is this? and how can I stop this behavior?

She is an adult poodle
Answers:
I don't really know why this behavior has come up. Are you gone more than you use to be or something, or is something else taking more of your attention than the dog? Sometimes this will occure to get attention, wheather it be good attention or bad.

Leave squirt bottles around the house, and when the dogs goes to do the things it isn't suppose to, squirt it in the face, and say in a firm voice, NO! After the scolding, never go back to the dog and love on it, this shows you are backing down. This will help control the dogs chewing.
he thinks you are a tramp! dress up more often
maybe its lonely spend more time with it.
It is just a phase in its life. when it gets older it will calm down and stop chewing . try to get it a bone or a chew toy. to make the bone last longer coat it w/peanut butter.
sounds as though ur dog is bored this is the main reason a dog chews spent time with him and play more often eith it and this should stop it
Your dog is probably doing it because your clothes have your scent on them, my dogs do the same thing.
First of all put your clothing in a place where she can not get to them. I have a lab that chewed on anything she could find when i was away. She eventually grew out of it. She is now 6 years old and only chews on her bones and anything she knows is hers. The bone idea is good and any type of toy you can get her interested in. They also make a bitter spray that you can spray on things she may take interest in.

my dog has been with me for 7 years and is getting really sick?

my dog 10 pound poodle is ill. i got blood work ect.. i found out that my baby has congestive heart failure. i got meds from the vet and i bought cough syrup for him,,, vet oked it.. anyway peanut was getting better but now won;t move very much. how long till she;ll be suffering? i don;t want him to be miserable and in pain. what should i do.i have no family to askk.. thank-you
Answers:
I suggest going back to the vet to check if the medication needs to be altered or added to as there are differant heart treatments that are sometimes used together.
Congestive heart failure basically means the heart isnt pumping blood round the body properly so can cause build up of blood pressure in the lungs or abdomen and fluid to leak out here - this can cause coughing, difficulty breathing, swollen liver, gut problems and discomfort. The heart is unable to pump blood to the muscles and brain effectively especially when exercising - this might be why your dog doesnt want to move much - this causes weakness, lethargy and can cause disorientation. In general heart failure doesnt cause pain - but it can cause suffering in other ways. If your dog is eating and drinking and getting around and going to the toilet and enjoying fuss with you then good. If not then he may be suffering - speak to your vet - they know you and your dog and they can advise you on when it is kinder to actually let them go - think quality of life not quantity- sometimes they die in their sleep but often you have to be brave and make a choice for them to save them days of suffering. good luck and I hope you have more time together.
you poor thing! the best thing for you to do is make sure that she dosent suffer.have you spoken to your vet about what he or she suggests is the best plan of action to make sure your little sweetheart WONT suffer?
Im not a vet so really I may not know what Im talking about, but congestive heart failure seems like a disease where they could live out their life and pass naturally. She may be tired from it, but I doubt its painful (unless your vet told you different). Shell probably even get to pass in her sleep, which is abou the best way to go IMO.
Honey if your baby is suffering then you need to seriously think about maybe getting him put down.. It would be best for him so he don't have to suffer..
i'm sooo sorry :( my baby of 9 years got hit by a car and died. i still can't get over it and it happened in april. my pets are like small children to me. if your baby's suffering, you should put him down so he won't be in horrible pain, ask a friend to go with you. i'm so sorry huny your baby loves you so much, tell him it's ok and that you love him. most of the time the really old animals hang on just for us, to make us happy because they don't want us to be sad. tell him it's ok for him or her to go..if u want to talk, email me
I'm sorry about your baby. I know how it feels to lose a pet.
Having your dog humanely euthanized may be your best option. I know it's hard to do, but it's best for your dog. She doesn't want to suffer and I know you don't want to see her suffer.
I apologize if I offend anyone, but it is an open forum..

Congestive heart failure can be very painful. (Matt needs to do a little research before answering).

Fluid builds around the heart and/or lungs constricting their breathing and blood flow.

If he/she has gotten to the point where it hurts or takes everything ounce of energy they have just to move. the condition has progressed.

The decision of whether to put a dog down or not is one of the toughest decisions to make, but I see no point in letting a dog suffer either! If quality of life is gone, let them have their dignity!

My dog has been very aggressive lately why do you think?

Answers:
You didn't give enough details for us to be of much help here..But, if a dog is suddenly aggressive, it if often a health issue..the first thing would be to have the dog's health checked to learn if pain or illness is the underlying cause..
If your dog is becoming aggressive to the family..a refresher course in basic obedience will usually do the job.as it puts the owner back in the driver's seat..and reminds the dog who is boss..
without better description of the problem, that is about all I can suggest..
You are welcome to email me

thankyou for adding details. she is just now maturing, and feeling, as most teenagers, that she is hot stuff..
Here is a good site that will help you in dealing with this problem> http://www.pets.ca/articles/article-dogr.
You need to add more detail. We cannot possibly answer your question without background, breed info, living arrangements, is this a new problem, etc.

Try asking again with more detail.
he needs to get laid
if it is a girl it is probably pregnant
maybe there is something around that he/she doesnt like or something
Toward people or dogs? Any changes in your household?

I had a mixed-breed dog that became aggressive toward people every time my ex-wife was pregnant. She became very protective in a way that was unpleasant.

Aloha
Have you gotten anew dog? Moved? Gotten a new signifigant other? Maybe the dog isn't feeling well?
i think mabey it is hurt . is dog a girl or a boy if it is a girl it might be aggressive because she is preganet.
How old is your dog? What Breed? Male or Female? And has he or she been neutered or spayed? How much play time does the dog get? Chances could be that it's in season. Or maybe doesn't get enough exercise and is bored. Need more information about your dog, before I could be sure. What changes have occured in your household?
the dog could be aggressive because it now thinks it is the pack leader of your domicile. Try taking it on walks.good walks.and let the dog know that you are the boss.try watching the Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic channel for more info.Cesar rehabilitates dogs and trains humans
your dog may not get enough sleep in a day and its just cranky .if your dog has a dog bed put it right next to your bed it might make him/her sleep better.
You aren't supplying all that much information for me to go on but my first thought would have to be rabies. Some tings to look for (other than unnaturally aggressive behavior) are sensitivity to water, and foaming of the mouth. You should seek the help of a veterinarian if it exhibits these symptoms but it could be too late after these symptoms set in.

Hope this helps.
Are you spending time with your minpin. They need lots of TLC.

my dog has been sick twice today and has had upset stomach whats the best thing to do?

Answers:
Good advice been given already - I'd go with the chicken and rice - that always works for my dogs and IGNORE the comment from Sarah.

To Sarah - where do you get off being a nasty insensitive ** - reported !!
Take it the vets
Take him to the vet ASAP.
Best of luck!
I would keep an eye on him. Is there a chance your dog got into anything that might have made him sick? Does he eat table scraps? I'd make sure he has fresh water for the time being. How is his behavior? is he as active as he usually is? Is he acting lethargic?
u should ring the R.S.P.C.A help line and see what they say.
ring the vets asap. delaying ringing could be harmfull to your dog!
In the mean time scramble her up some eggs. VERY DRY! no salt no pepper no nothing. The eggs will help settle her stomach for now.
starve it for 24 hours completely except for water.if no good take it the vets. if ok after 24 hours, feed something light, like scrambled egg or rice and chicken, something very plain. hope pooch is ok
she could have cancer
You don't say how long this has been going on for but the usual thing to do with sick dogs is:

Do not feed your dog for 24 hours. If your dog is otherwise perky and seems normal this will probably sort the problem out.
Start feeding as normal the following day. If your dog then continues to vomit then take it to the vet straight away. Ask the vet if you should take a vomit sample.

However, if your dog has other symptoms like panting, whining, seems uncomfortable, green or bloody vomit, or anything else you know is not usual, take it to the vet asap. If your dog has been poisoned it will need treatment very soon or it will get worse very quickly.

Many dogs have bouts of vomiting or the runs now and then because they gobble up so much rubbish but if you are concerned because this seems unusual then taking your dog to the vet will put your mind at rest.
If it is a young dog I would withdraw any food for the next 24 hours and administer some Kaolin to help dry up residue and push any bacteria through the system.

It has probably eaten something nasty. If it is an older dog and/or there is blood in the vomit or the animal is in painb when the stomach is pushed then take it to the vets asap.
Take him to the vet today, Wednesday could be too late
He might have swallowed something and it has stuck in his intestines and blocked them.
dont feed ur dog
Watch him closely for about another 12 hours, you don't say how old he is? is he drinking? (if not take to the vet) If fully adult then yes another 12 hours will be ok if a pup I would get him to the vet especially if he is listless! don't offer any food in this time, if there is no more vomitting in this time offer him something like white cooked fish (watch out for bones)! or cooked chicken with rice, only a small amount though! Ultimately if it continues take him to the vet. It may just be someting he has eaten that he shouldn't or something a bit too rich.
maybe he's sick of you!!
Miss out on next meal(s) for 24hrs but make sure fresh water is available - then try a little chicken or fish with rice. If problem persists then its definitely time to go to the vet.
when our dogs got sick, vomiting 2 much, the vet said to go get 97% lean ground meat, cottage cheese, and rice. use 1 cup of each, equal amounts-depending on the size of the dog and how much they normally eat. u can get the meat at grocery store, ask if can't find the percentage of fat in it. 24 hour diet should fix it. everytime my little dog gets sick from people feeding him people food, i just mix this up and he is good to go. hope it works for u!
I can count on my dog to throw-up if he's eaten grass when he's been outside. Has he/she eaten anything strange lately?Changes in his/her dog food could create the vomitting. If he/she has eaten a portion of a toy, you may need to take him/her to the vet. The toy part could be lodged in his/her digestive system and causing the vomitting. If this has created a blockage that won't pass, he/she will need surgery. I assume that he/she is up to date on his/her shots. Because if he/she is not, many diseases that we vaccinate for can cause vomitting and/or diarehea. When in doubt, always, always take your pet to the vet!
feed him a can ok pumpkin. Serious, it helps calm down their belly.
Go to your local pet store and buy charcoal bones. The Charcoal in the bones is not harmful and it will absorb what ever is making your dog sick. It works like a charm!
WHEN MY DOG KEPT BEING SICK THE BEST THING TO HELP SETTLE THERE BELLY IS A SMALL BOWL OF CHICKEN OFF OF THE BONE TAKE IT ALL OFF THE BONE AND PUT IT IN THE BOWL WITH A SMALL PORTION OF RICE THAT SHOULD HELP
ring the vets asap or take your dog down to the vets that way they will see the dog.
he has probably just over ate
feed him chicken and rice if your going to feed him
other than that starve him and get to the vets ASAP.
more than likely eaten something he sholdnt of and got stuck in his system somewhere
withdraw it's food for 24 hours and let it drink water. Nothing else until either he stops being sick or you can get it to the vets
feed him chicken and rice dont listen to sarah she dosent know anything she probably flushed her own goldfish down the loo when really you should bury them

If you try calling different vets and some will do a payment plan try explaining your situation. Also if you find a company that runs on donations they or someone else might no of a place that helps people who can't afford to help there animal. They could give you numbers to places that can help. Even a church or humanes society,or a animal rescue sometime those places only charge for the cost of the medication so it won't cost you an arm n a leg lol Hope that helps a little.
Give your dog to a no-kill shelter. They will give him medical attention and find a new home for him. You shouldn't have a dog unless you can care for him.
GOD I HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE KIDS
Adopt your dog to someone who can care for him. You are not capable of being a dog owner at this time.
Your dog may have diabetes. I have to agree what others have said--give your dog to a shelter that will do a better job of caring for it than you can.
if you love your dog you will give him to the rspca or the equivalent service wherever you are,its obvious you cant care for your poor dog. or if you dont want to do that then find a way to get $35 dollars to get your dog looked at by a vet! it angers me people do this!you should have taken this all into consideration when getting your dog!
Give up your internet. One month's bill alone will get the medical attention your dog needs.
Sometimes you can take him to a vet and they will setup some monthly payment plan.
call the vet anyway, they sometimes take payments or you can work for the payment, if this is not an option take your dog to a no - kill shelter. Honestly this should have been done 4 months ago.
Try a natural approach to see if it will help. There are many Yahoo groups that discuss and help each other with their dogs.
One is
Pets 4 Homeopathy
http://health.group.yahoo.com/group/pets.
I'm sure if you talk to your vet and tell him your concerns he may come up with some sort of payment options for you.If your vet doesn't want to do that ,call around to all vets that will let you. There's no way to really tell what's wrong with this dog unless he's seen by a vet.Another option may be low cost clinics in your area. There's pet insurance to that would pay for part of the vet fee. Maybe look into that.I'm sorry this is happening.
This will sound cruel, you have had a dog that has been sick for 4 MONTHS. That is beyond inhumane!

It can not just walk into the vets office and say I am sick. Its life is in your hands, you may be slowly letting your dog die, or it could be something really minor that can be fixed with a $8.00 bottle of meds.

LOL, what is wrong with you, give the dog to a no kill shelter, where it can be treated and given to a family or individual that will be able to care for it. I understand the lack of money situation, really I do..but this animal is your responsibility.
give your dog to the rspca.you oviolsly cant care for her.or give up the internet so you can get enough money
Ok everyone relax, even poor people have the right to own a dog. Instead here's some ideas.

Most vets have a payment option
You can take it to the SPCA,but not to give away! take your dog there explain whats going on with your dog. They will often just ask for a donation or will work with a small percent on your income,if your are a low income family.
Like someone mentioned here, remove internet = pay vet bill.
Go without something in your life ie: smokes, or only pay half your bills that month.
Do you have anything you can Pawn? at a Pawn shop ie: Rings, sterio, speakers,CD's anything.
(1) Pawn anything you can to raise the money

(2) Get a payday advance loan - roll it over if you must and live with the interest

(3) Go get a job or get a 2nd job

(4) Work out a payment plan with the vet

(5) Cancel the internet and use that money to help pay the bill (plus no McDonalds, no renting movies, no pop and snacks at the convenience store.)

(5) Still no money - contact the local humane society. You may have to give her up.

NOT GETTING HER MEDICAL CARE IS NOT AN OPTION

In most states it is a CRIME to fail to get an animal needed medical attention when ill - lack of money is not an excuse. The courts' view is that then you should have turned her over to the Humand Society if you couldn't care for her

It is called "ABUSE AND NEGLECT" and you can go to jail.
I haven't had time to read all of the answers, but I agree with the ones I have read. If you don't have the money for vet bills, you do not need to have a pet, period. If you are not willing to make sacrifices for your pet, you do not need a pet, period.
Get a cash advace on your pay check, borrow the money, sell your freakin' plasma if you have to-just get that poor dog to the vet.

My dog has been pregnant. But she's acting like she is again, can a dog give birth twice?

I've had many cats that have given birth hundreds of times, yes, but I'm just making sure that a dog is the same thing,
Answers:
Yes dear, they can have litter, after litter, after litter.but do her and the world a favor and get her SPAYED!
Yes, dogs can have multiple litters. They can get pregnant more than once. If you don't want anymore you'll have to get her fixed.
Yes dogs can almost gust like cats. You might have to get them fix..
simple you need to get your pets spayed and neutered. If your cats gave birth like a hundred times. then you are contributing to the pet overpopulation!

Good luck!
If your dog has been in heat again, and around a male dog, she certainly can get pregnant again. Not sure, but I think they go into heat once a year like most other animals.
Of course. She could be pregnant again. There is also the possibility of false pregnancy (gaining weight and acting maternal, but never giving birth).
You're kidding, hon. All animals can have many babies, including dogs. Get your dog spayed right away and stop giving the world more unwanted puppies. And get your cats spayed too, for heaven's sake. Don't you know how many millions of cats and dogs die every year because they don't have homes?
Yes, sweetie, dogs can get pregnant until you stop it and spay her. Otherwise you are going to have one litter after another. Take her to the Vet and spay her, better yet in her license tag there is a number that you can call. The humane Society and they can do it for 10.00$ if you don't have much money. It will cost you 20.00$ with the pain medication. The best thing is to spay that dog, now.
yes but they have to be in heat - if your dog is fixed then it is not possible. If you let your dog run around outside with other dogs alone they may have sex. Good luck with the puppies! :)
Yeah, My dog had 3 litters
and one of the other answers said you can get her fixed for $10 not true. It depend on the size and weight of a dog, atleast in california. I had a pit and she was about 60lbs and i can tell you i was looking at paying $50 at the human society
yes, dogs can give birth many times
You are asking of a dog is the same thing as a cat. No, technically, it isn't. A dog is the one that goes. "woof, woof."
Yes a dog can give birth more than one time because my dog gave birth more than once but if you dont want her to have a puppy you should probably take her to the vet and see what they say about it

Good Luck
Oh lord.. hmmmmmmmmm.. i am speechless
Yes--dogs can have multiple litters.

However, some can also experience "phantom pregnancies."

You might want to get your dog looked at by a vet to see if she is truly pregnant.
of course they can get pregnant more than once. If you are not in the business of breeding, then PLEASE get your pets fixed. It makes it harder on the rest of us that rescue dogs when people let their pets breed out of control.
Most all dogs come into season every 6 months, but have seen them come around every 4 months. If your female has just had pups within the last few days,it could be possible she still has a pup in her that may be dead if she is acting like she is going into labor again. If this is the case, you need to have her checked by your vet.The answer to your question would be ,yes,as it is possible that your female can have many litters during her lifetime if subjected to a male dog during her seasons.
Of course!

My dog has been foaming at the mouth..?

and she can't see, drink or eat. PLEASE HELP ME!
Answers:
vet. now.
could be anything from poisoning to rabies

Why did you add the part about the dog being hit by a car long after you started receiving answers?
flaky
rabies.. go to the emergency vet right away
she's having a seizure. she might have epilepsy, my yellow lab has it. there is medicine for them to stop having seizures but you have to go to the vet to get it.
bring it to the vet right away it could have rabies
your dog may be in truble! Get your dog to the Vet ASAP!!
Get her to a vet immediately
Your dog ate something poisionous. Take him to the vet!
take her to the vet immediately, it sounds serious.
I'm afraid that she has Rabies. There is no cure. Take her to the vet and he can best tell you what to do. I'm very sorry. Don't let her bite you or anyone else, as you can catch the rabies if she bites you.
call animal control your dog can not be cured of rabbies must be put down
If it was rabies, I don't think I would be getting near it. My friend is a vet and I have always heard her say that if a dog is suspected of having rabies, to quarentine it for at least 10 days.
you should go see a veterinarian about that it could be rabies, those are typical symptoms of rabies.
that sounds serious. maybe she was poisoned or god forbid rabies.. get to the vet as soon as possible.. my prayers are with you both.
Rabies.
I foam at the mouth to and then I get a violation notice email.

I may be dumb and stupid, but even I would know enough to take the dog to a vet. It might be too late. What are you waiting for?
shes got rabbies
I'm sorry to tell you that your dog needs to be put down ASAP.
There are two things she may have:
Rabies: If she is a mostley outside dog , and has not had her shots recentley those are all symtoms.
1. Is she chasing her tail?
2. Is she bitting at the air?
3. Is she jumping and barking alot?
4. She is foaming.
If she is doing all those things I'm sorry to say your dog has rabies.
OR
She seems to have alot of symtoms my German Shepherd Female had. Except Scarlet was not foaming at the mouth but she could not see or hear, or eat or drink.
She died, sadly after some problems with her heart and her ribs being mixed up somehow.
I know everyone else is saying, "Take your dog to the vet NOW!" And for once, I complteley agree with everyone.
You need to take your dog to the vet and mabey it is not rabies, the only way to tell for certain if a dog has rabies is to test the dead aniamals brain at a lab. I really hope your dog ends up being ok.
Good Luck and I hoped this helped!
what kind of dog is she?.if she is a large breed and tends to eat garbage or food really fast.Bloat is a consideration.blindness isnt caused by it, but it may also be a reaction to a new product like flea control or chemicals. Get her to the vet right away to check her bloodwork. Goodluck!
Prodromal phase: first symptoms of rabies
The early symptoms of rabies tend to be subtle, last 2 to 3 days, and include the following:

*Change in tone of the dog's bark
*Chewing at the bite site
*Fever
*Loss of appetite
*Subtle changes in behavior
*Furious phase: "mad dog syndrome"

The second phase of infection usually lasts 2 to 4 days and not all rabid animals experience it. Animals that enter immediately into the final paralytic phase are sometimes said to have dumb or paralytic rabies. Animals that spend most of their diseased state in the furious phase are sometimes said to have furious rabies. An infected dog may viciously attack any moving object, person, or animal; a caged rabid dog will chew the wire, break their teeth, and try to bite a hand moving in front of the cage. Rabid cats will attack suddenly, biting and scratching. Foxes will invade yards and attack dogs, cows, and porcupines.
They may show the following signs:

*Craving to eat anything, including inedible objects
*Constant growling and barking
*Dilated pupils
*Disorientation
*Erratic behavior
*Episodes of aggression
*Facial expression showing anxiety and hyperalertness
*Irritability
*No fear of natural enemies (e.g., wild animals may not be afraid of people)
*Restlessness
*Roaming
*Seizures
*Trembling and muscle incoordination

Paralytic phase
The third and final phase of infection usually lasts for 2 to 4 days. Initial symptoms include the following:

*Appearance of choking
*Dropping of the lower jaw (in dogs)
*Inability to swallow, leading to drooling and foaming of saliva (i.e., "foaming at the mouth")
*Paralysis of jaw, throat, and chewing muscles

Paralysis then spreads to other parts of the body, the animal becomes depressed, rapidly enters a coma and dies.
I don't know how to say this. I think see might have raibies. Get her to the vet before it's too late! Oh my god. I just read your new comment. Oh my god, I'm so sorry. This made me cry, I'm so sorry. Are you okay? Oh my god. You'll be okay soon. You poor thing!
It could be a number of things. If she's acting aggressive it's probably rabies, but if shes not, it could be a type of neurological disorder. Either way you should take her to the vet immediatly.
you dont make sense

My dog has been eating the leaves off of a particular plant in my yard for about the last week. What does thi

Answers:
It probably means it tastes good. That sounds like a stupid answer, but it is probably the most sincere answer I can give you.

I know dogs like to eat leaves and grass to help them digest hair that gets in their stomach from licking themselves when they are shedding. Is your dog shedding? If so, brush him daily to reduce the amount of hair they ingest. This might help.

Also, you can get a spray from your local pet supply store, and some garden centers, that you apply to the plant and it has a very bitter taste to discourage animals from chewing/eating them.

I have had two dogs over the past 15 years that have eaten plants in my yard and I have had a brutal time trying to get them to stop. Both did stop however, and it seems that winter was the answer. I guess what happened was that during the winter the bushes and plants would lose their leaves and get buried in the snow. Then when spring came and the leaves returned, it seemed that they forgot all about eating the plants.

BE EVRY CAREFUL - as some plants and shrubs can be extremely toxic to animals and in some cases might be fatal if swallowed. Check with your vet, or possibly garden center, to see if you have any harmful plants and get rid of them.

Good luck!
I'm not very sure my dogs didn't do it when we lived in new orleans but since we moved to Atlanta all mt dogs do it.The vets tell me they have a stomach problem and not to worry about it,

My dog has been eating the cat's litter.?

it's the clumping kind of litter. In the last couple of days he has been vomiting after he eats his normal food. He's a dog of course so he then eats his own vomit. But, do you think eating clumping cat litter can cause a bowel obstruction which might be causing the vomiting?
Answers:
Seriously, you cannot go wrong with this article:

20 Reasons Why Dogs Eat Poop
http://www.pet-comfort-products.com/why-.

This should help enormously!
KEEP IT AWAY FROM THE DOG .
BUY DOG FOOD.
My dog used to do that too! He was eating the cat POOP not just the litter, which may be what your dog is doing. Yuck. You asked if cat litter can cause a bowel obstruction which might be causing the vomiting..and all I can say is that I'd VOMIT TOO if I was eating cat litter (with or without clumps.) Set the cat's litter box so that the opening is close to the wall or wherever so your dog can't sniff and get his head in there. Or move the litter box where the dog can't get to it.
Take him to the vet ASAP! Cat litter is very toxic and your dog might be in danger. He might have some kind of deficiency that the vet can help you with.
It may be true that he has bowel obstruction, also he may have worms or even liver problems. I would make a visit to the vet immediately.
Most cat litters are clay based, and yes they can cause bowel obstructions. If he is vomiting when he eats his regular food, YES get him to a vet IMMEDIATELY.
You need to put the cat litter box in a place where your dog can't access it. We elevated ours to a height they couldn't reach, but you can also keep it in a room that you can guard with a "baby gate" at the doorway, or even consider putting in a kitty door if your dog is large enuf not to be able to squeeze thru it.
please tell me you dog has had it's shots!? eating cat poop is the #1 cause for parvo! i would take him to the vet. asap.!
Watch your dog, to make sure he is going potty. The vomiting is most likely from the cat litter, however you need to rule that out. I placed my litter box behind a baby gate, so the cat can still use the litter box, but the dog can't get to it. You may need to move the litter box several times until ya find the right spot that cat can still use it but that dog can't get to it. If the vomiting still continues then I would say you have another problem and need to take him/her to the vet. I would not suggest letting the dog eat his own vomit even though it is normal, he/she will be eating the same irritants again. I hope this helps you!
to much of it can.i recently bought a house that has a small door and a litter box inside at petco for about 40 dollars you should see if they carry it he wouldnt be able to get in it i bet..gl !!
For some reason, which I have yet to figure out, all dogs will eat cat poop if given the chance. Put the litter where the dog can't reach or get to it. Cats can get to the litter even if it is up on something.
Any litter could cause an obstruction. If you can catch him doing that, correct him firmly and tell him NO. You will have to watch him closely but I think you can change the behavior.

My dog has become violent and I don't know what to do.?

My black lab has become increasingly violent with strangers. He has not responded to traditional training techniques and i am afraid for my kids and company. Any ideas of how to save his life and protect my family too. I am pretty sure he needs to leave my house but I am afraid to take him to the pound because i dont think he has a chance to be adopted.
Answers:
Take him to the vet for a thorough check-up, there may be a medical reason for his change in behavior. It's not normal for a pet who's loved and treated with kindness to suddenly become aggressive. He may be in pain, or could have something going on in his brain that's causing these changes. It's not safe for him to be around your children if you don't know what's going to set him off, and a lab is big enough to do some serious damage very quickly to a child!
Call the Dog Whisperer.
you have to become the dominant dog in the relationship sounds funny i know but he wants to dominate i have a chocolate lab like that i have to get in his face and face him down
just make sure you and the family are dominate
try sit stay fetch its a book find it on the web
Kill it
Check out my website at http://www.libertydogtraining.com.
If I can help, please email me.

I have experience with dominant and aggressive dogs, so I may be able to help.

Unfortunately, if he has already bitten he can not be rehomed. In NC, if you give a dog away that has already bit, you are liable if that dog bites someone else in the future.

Send me an email through the above website. Tell me more about his behavior.
How old is the dog?

Usually increasing aggression toward new people and situations is caused by a lack of socialization when the dog was small. It was never taught, when small, how to cope with new things. Dogs who are not well socialized often end up terrified of everything or very aggressive.

If feasible, get your dog to a socialization training class which specializes in aggressive tendancies.

If you can't afford to do that, we suggest that you have the dog put down before it harms somone. If it attacks a family member, friend, or stranger you'll be facing legal action (not to mention the trauma to the dog and the victim from such an altercation).

Taking it to the pound will not help it. Most pounds and shelters now screen for aggressive dogs and mark those that fail the assessments for elimination because they are "non-adoptable". If the pound kills your dog, they'll most likely put it in a gas chamber with a bunch of other dogs and then take its body to the dump. If you put your dog down yourself, your vet can do it more humanely, you'll have the option of being with the dog when it goes, and you can decide how you want your dogs remains to handled.

This is going to be tough on you no matter what you decide. We wish you the best.
Wow that is VERY rare for blak labs to show any agression at all, except when they feel very very very threatened or if you're hurting their owners. Your dog for some reason must be feeling very threatened fo rhis safety with strangers. Have you tried a good ol prong collar? Those things are amazing. Yes, I thought they were 'mean' before, but once your dog is trained, you don't even have to use it anymore. We used one to correct all of our black lab's bad behaviors - it is a miracle. Have someone put the prong collar and leash on your dog and you talk with strangers in a calm friendly tone. If your dog begins being aggressive, have that other person pull hard on tha tprong collar. Whenever your dog acts appropriately towards strangers, praise your dog ALOT and give treats. You will have to do this multiple times with multiple strangers. You're going to have to be willing to work hard at this, or else you'll fail your dog. Your dog needs YOU to be its trainer. I wish you good luck with this. It is HIGHLY important you work on this before it's too late and your dog hurts someone. That would be your fault.
Thank God you didn't say a Pit Bull! Pit bulls pass the temperament test with a 90% and all other breeds-70%. Labs are more likely to attack than a pit. I would keep the dog away from the kids and go to a reprable trainer asap!

My dog has become very aggressive with other dogs. How do I control her?

She will attack other dogs without any warning, usually over food but sometimes over some object. I don't want to put her down, but I have very few options. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Answers:
There has to be a reason why she's doing this - there always is. But your best bet is dog obedience training, where she will learn who the "alpha" is in your family. If you don't show her through proper training, she will never learn and it would be a shame to put a good dog down. Not a good idea to put food out for her when there are other dogs around - that's a recipe for failure right there. She is just being possessive. Dog obedience training will teach her to sit, stand, stay, down and heel - that way she will be under your control.
And you NEVER use negative things such as punishment - you will then make her vicious. It's all about rewards for good behavior and ignoring bad behavior.
Take her to a training school, and punish her when she misbehaves.
Euthanasia
She just loves you. Have you been paying attention to her more often then usual, by throwing a ball and taking her for more walks then average?

You might be spoiling her with to much love and she might be reacting to this by getting jealous of other dogs.
Tell her to stop and punish her. If she doesn't stop take her away from other dogs or take her to a disipline school.
Watch the Dog Wisperer!! but on a serious note, you should put her in a situation where she would normally attack other dogs and stop her and yell "NO!" if she shows any hint of attacking and, most importantly, you should reward her for good behavior with a treat or something.
Remove the stimuli that makes her attack. If it's food feed her seperately from other dogs ,if it is some other object keep things off of the floor. You have to find her triggers then remove them.
How Old is She? They are never to old to teach behavior to. I got my shepherd/mix to, believe it or not, leave cats alone. Choker around her neck, if she is a big dog, Just be Firm and consistent. Every day practice trying to take her favorite toy or something she likes. I Hope it works. And know it is not cruel. Because when you give the command and she does it you loosen your grip and she is fine. Hope this helps. Good Luck. P.S. My dog was 9 when I had to teach him and his sister abouts the cats because we moved and there were strays I used to care for.
Mike, don't you dare put that dog down,it won't rest easy on your mind,it will haunt you like forever,if nothing works how about getting in touch with P.E.T.A. they do some real good work, explain to them what the dog is doing,Good Luck.

My dog has bad skin allergies, my vet recommend a drug called Atopica which would cost $380 per month!?

Unfortunately, there is no way I can swing $380 per month. I was told that there really are not other allergy drugs for dogs. The other options are Benadryl which only masks the condition and steroids which are not safe for long term use. My dog was on 15 days of steroids which made a huge difference, but now for the long term my vet recommended the Atopica. Has anyone heard of any other allergy drugs for dogs?
Answers:
Other options that you can discuss with your veterinarian are giving a drug called ketoconazole along with Atopica. This drug alter enzymes in the liver allowing the Atopica (also known as cyclosporine) to have a longer effect thus allowing the dose of Atopica to be decreased in half. This drug does have side effects and usually requires that routine bloodwork is performed to monitor your dogs liver enzymes. Another option is to call around to human pharmacies and ask for the price of generic cyclosporine. Sometimes it can cost as much as 1/4 the price of what Atopica cost. Once you find a pharmacy with a reasonable price you can ask your veterinarian to call in the prescription for you. Just be aware that in some dogs the generic form of cyclosporine may not be as effective as Atopica. I wish you luck
Dogs have all kind of allergies and diseases, in your case is kind of expensive, you can even pay installments on a new Lexus with that kind of money, but if you love your dog, the decision is up to you..鈽?
I would sure recommend that you contact Marina Zacharias for help with this.. http://www.naturalrearing.com/how_to_con.
Marina is an Holistic practitioner, and would know the very safest and most effective ways to treat your dog's atopy..
I asked her for permission to post her contact info here, and she said she would be happy to help in any way she could..she will answer emails quickly or phone calls (Pacific standard time) and consults are free..She has helped me many times, over many years.
I would just put him down if I were you. Its a dog. Just a dog.
bathe your dog with a special shampoo, designed to help with allergies.use stainless steel bowls, and wash them every day.when you vacuum make sure, your dog is in a different room.also if you are a smoker, keep your dog away from it.put plastic on whatever your dog sleeps on. they also have a spray, you can use on your dog,to stop the itching.you can buy it at pet co,hope your dog will be better soon.

my dog has bad separation anxiety any answers?

our 7mth old pup is wonderful in all ways and our baby SPOILT! His mother was chinese crested and dad shitzhu, bit of a mistake. He was quite good until we went away for a few days my mum came to stay, he stopped eating and statred pulling his fur out. When I go to work he scratches our pine door so much, his paws bleed it is breaking my heart to leave him.
Answers:
This takes a long time to overcome, so you need patience. The only way to stop it is to gradually get your dog used to your absence. That means frequently leaving it alone for short periods of time (start with just a few minutes); gradually increase the absence time as the dog gets used to it. This is hard to do, I know, if you live alone. Crating the dog is abusive.
See about getting him a friend.
ASK A VET ABOUT TRANQUILIZERS

CRATE HIM WHEN YOU ARE NOT HOME
I would crate him when I am not home. The smaller space isnt cruel, it's comforting to them.
you need to get him a crate to stay in when you are not at home. And when you are at home put him in the crate in a room by himself. let him cry.do not go back in there until he is quiet. then go to see him once he is quiet for a few minutes and then leave him again. do not go bck until he is quiet. he will eventually learn that you are coming back when you leave and it is ok. I had a 1 month old pup that did the same thing and this worked or me.
you spoiled him u admitted it,, try to crate train him when ur home
The first thing is not to show your own anxiety about leaving him. No lingering goodbyes. This may seem harsh but the longer you spend reassuring the dog the more he will know there is something to worry about. It is a good idea to leave him for short periods first if possible so he understands you are coming back, then gradually increase the time. If he has to stay with anyone make sure he is well familiar with them before the event.
When you leave him make sure he feels he has a safe place to lie down eg. bed in a corner with a couple of his favourite toys. Possibly leave the radio on so there are sounds in the house. Also Kongs are very good; put his favourite treats inside for him to amuse himself. If you are out at work could anyone pop in to see him?
A very good run before you need to leave him followed by his meal should also help him settle.
Above all, be relaxed for the whole period before you are about to leave.
Your dog requires training. Separation anxiety in dogs is the fear or dislike of isolation which often results in undesirable behaviour. Separation anxiety is one of the most common causes of canine behavioural problems.

There so many simple solutions for this complex problems. Important treatments for this problem are -
obedience training
punishment crate-training- crate-training when the pup is young

Planned departures- This method involves gradually adjusting the dog to being alone by exposure to many short departures.
My dog also has terrible seperation anxiety. If we leave for 2 minutes he thinks we abandoned him. Try getting him a kennel. Buy a soft bed and maybe a blanket to put in it. Then when you are not home put him in there. Also put in like a rawhide to occupy him because otherwise he will just chew the bed. I hope this works for you.

my dog has bad gas, any ideas??

Answers:
Read the label of the dry dog food. Most dog food is primarily corn, wheat or soy. This can cause a lot of gas. Check with your vet and then switch him to a good quality brand DRY dog food.maybe a lamb/rice or turkey/rice formula. Try to avoid corn, wheat or soy, or at least formulas with those as the main or first ingrediants.

Also, all of these dog treats on the market are mostly flour and sugar. =GAS. Cut out "Semi moist" food or canned food and any treats other than a hard, dry Milkbone type of biscuit. Also, no pigs ears or rawhide or cow holves to chew either. If the dog needs to chew, use a nylabone or a plain old cow shank bone (you can buy clean, white bones at the pet store)

This is what worked for me.
YES FED IT TUMS--
Try lamb and rice based dog food.
does it eat grass well if it does thats the problem, or you can get one of those glade fresheners or freebrez stuff so it can smell better a little bit i hope not either
Most likely his diet is causing his gastro-intestinal extravaganza. Go with a good quality dog food like Purina, no table scraps, no people food, and no canned food for a few weeks and see if it straightens it out.

If not, it could be worms or some other intestinal parasites. Try the strict diet thing first and if not, have a vet check for the other.
it could be the food you are feeding him/her, try a different kind (gradually of course, never change a food cold turkey, mix some in with the old, then a little less of the old more of the new until it's all new food). Or take it to the vet and see what they say.
Do not give it lamb, my dog vomet's because of lamb. try giving your dog some dry food. ( purina ) it should help.
Change his diet. Do you feed him dog food or human food? Both? I believe the nasty gas could be from whatever table foods they may eat. Or, if he doesn't eat human food, maybe the brand of dog food he is eating. House dog, huh? Poor you!!
Even though I don't know what type of food you are feeding your dog, it is a fair guess that you are feeding kibble which ferments in their stomach due to a LONG digestion time. Starches that turn to sugar cause fermentation. Fermentation causes gas.

Since dogs were not meant to eat 'processed kibble' the best advise I can give you is to look into a more WHOLESOME diet of fresh raw meat and bones (get a good book on the subject like the one Kymythy Schultze wrote on Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats).

In the meantime, you can give your dog FENNEL (capsule form will work) or GINGER to relieve the gas. Try to stay away from given HUMAN chemical conconction like gas-x since these can cause more problems than they solve. An fecal exam by your vet will rule out any internal parasites which can also cause a 'gassy stomach' and a wellness check should be done at least once a year. Older pets are more prone to gas and obesity and the lack of exercise can also contribute to a 'gassy pet'.

I do hope this answers your question.

Angel C.
try good dog food, i dont have ne off hte top of m head, but you could not feed it food that would make you gas, and get agood og food!
I have the same problem. I recommend this program to my buddies. Good Luck Meatloaf!

My dog has attatchment disorder?

My dogs wets the bed and leaks pee when he is playing and running thru the house and someone says its caused by attatchment disorder? Can someone give me more information on this?
Answers:
Does your dog leak urine at random times during the day??(other than at night, running, or playing). If he's a puppy, some do have this problem and grow out of it as they get older. If he is an adult, it sounds to me like he has Incontinence. It is usually either caused by hormones or its due to a behavioral problem. You need to talk to your veterinarian and if he/she thinks this is the problem, start him on a medicathion called "Phenylpropanolamine" or "Propalin" for short.

Here is a good website w/ plenty of answers for Incontinence problems: http://www.vetinfo.com/dincont.html#inco.

Good luck with your dog!
Attachment disorder? I don't think they know what they are talking about! Call a vet. They can help!

my dog has asthma?

i took him to the vet and he got pills, but they're not working!
what should i do??
Answers:
I would find another vet because yes there is a relief for that and I know that because our neighbor had the same problem but the vet just cured the pet with some meds.
Go back to your vet. and tell him what the problem is and he may be able to prescribe something else. If your vet. doesn't seem to be able to handle the problem to you satisfaction call around and find another vet. in which will provide for your needs.
have him checked for heartworm
No it DOESN'T.

Dogs don't "get asthma".
my dog also has asthma. the vet told me to give him benedryl or claritin. Benedryl made him sleep all day but the claritin is wonderful. You may need to check with the vet for the correct dosage..My dog is a chi and I give him 3 cc/mm a day

my dog has arthritis today she cannot even stand up. is there anythng i can do or give her to help her 2get u

shes large and 2 big to carry to the vet. if i can can at least get her to stand or walk to the car. her leg seems limp.
Answers:
They have a supplement for dogs joint health, my dog takes it it lubricates there joints, its called Glucosamine HCL for dogs.
Also a child's Advil will help with joint swelling
give her half a tylonol --put it in a small piece of bread..let her swallow it.i did that several times to my little dog. why did you have to wait for that long? is the pet over-weight --sometimes they can not carry their own weight the four legs.you should worry then.whatever the case take her to the vet.it is a wise decision.
ps. you say she is "large" is that her normal size of just too fat..put her for sure on a strict diet --talk to the vet.
Actually, don't give the dog tylenol. It is very bad for dogs. Go get buffered aspirin, like Bayer. Many other pain relievers have additives that are harmful to dogs, including tylenol.
Find any dog food with glucosymne (glue-cose-a min) in it and find missing link with glucosymne that will do the trick i promise. go to pet smart. i know they carry the missing link. a dog food i know for sure that has that in it is Premium Edge. but i dont know if you can find that locally. if you feed both of these your dog will be so much better give him/her a month on this food and/or missing link. and you will see inprovements. i would love if you would keep in touch with me to let me know how he/she is doing.
first contact your vet and see if they offer any home care.they make make exceptions for very large lame dogs. NEVER GIVE YOUR DOG TYLENOL
Buffered aspirin can be ok, but you need ot find out form a vet the dosage.

Lastly, the dog needs special care.regular excercise for arthritic dogs, stretching excercises with you, an ortho bed.there are some great groups on Yahoo for canine arthritis.my dog is doing well on some supplements.do some research!

Also, you can help her walk by creating a sling.use a large bath towel and loop it under her back legs.you can help her support her weight that way.
MSM supplement and Flaxseed oil or fish oil in the diet. Go to your vet for the best care.
Are you sure it's not a stroke?Dogs don't just suddenly have arthritis, and arthritis doesn't make their legs go limp. You really should take her to a vet asap.Get someone to help you carry her.Use a blanket like a hammock.Just move her onto it and have someone take two corners and you take two, then you can get her into the car.
Your dog should be seen by your vet or an emergency clinic.. If she is unable to stand you can try and help her (just be careful and gentle), get a large beach towel-fold in half, place it under her back end to help to support her hind legs. If you feel that this will not work for your dog, call your vets office and ask them if you can borrow their hospital stretcher to put your pet on, you will of course need another person to help you if you use the stretcher. Good Luck

you can give the dog the lowest dose of immodium (if he has diahrrea, 1mg) or pepsid ac (if he's throwing up, 1mg). i've done this numerous times with my dobie. the vet recommended both to me, immodium after she had her innoculations and started having diahrrea and pepsid when she couldn't keep her medication down. hope one of these works for you. oh, and if you need him to eat try giving some plain white rice mixed w/ cottage cheese or plain yogurt. it helps bind them and give them the protein and carbs they need.
give tree teaspoons or pepto bismal.its safe and it works. If you have it there i wouldnt know ive never been.(cry)
You could go to a vet^^ I'm not really sure what exactly to do.but a vet might now. Hope your dog feels better!
give him peanut butter i should help
stop asking questions,%26 go to the doctor.
go to the vet
Take him to the vet domesticated canine upset stomach =serious
Do not feed it. And when you do, plain cooked rice and then slowly get it back into its eating routine, if that doesn't work take it to the vets.
If he's bringing his food back up, try feeding him cooked white or brown rice for a couple of days and then bring him to the vet to see what the problem is, if he's still not feeling well after that.
if he has an upset stomach i would go to the vet if he throws up take a sample to the vet he can test it to see what is wrong with him or her.but only give your dog meds what the vet recomends you dont want to upset him or her any more that it is .
You need to find out why your dog has an upset stomach. Is he throwing up? First find out from a vet what has caused this. But in the meantime, try low-fat cottage cheese and rice.
For the first 24 hours do not feed your dog.
Then introduce cottage cheese and rice. Feed that to your dog for 3 days. If at anytime your dog gets sick, do not feed for another 24 hours, then start over with the cottage cheese and rice. Then slowly introduce your dogs food into the cottage cheese and rice.

It is important to find out first if your dog has ingested any poison or toys, etc. So seek a vets opinion.
take ur dog outside for a walk and let him/her eat some grass dogs when they have upset stomach they like to eat grass and it does settle their stomachs
Take him outside, if he wants to eat some grass let him, this is how dogs clean out there stomachs naturally, they'll know when they need to eat grass and when they don't, just let him eat some if he wants, it'll make him throw up but that's how they cleanse their systems out. If this doesn't work, you can always give him (grind up and put in a little of his food) some kind of rolaids or tums that people take to cure stomach upset. Hope this helps ya.
Go to the vet or at least call them and ask them, they are the ones you should be asking. Don't rely on yahoo for answers, your dogs life could be at stake!
normaly when my dog has an upset tummy she eats a lot of grass and although it sometimes makes her sick it does do the trick
Yes, grass is suppose to help dog's upset stomach. My dog use to just eat grass off from our backyard and it would vomit it out probably along with whatever was upsetting him.

So if you don't have grass in your home, then take him to a park.
Try some plain boiled rice with a soggy weetabix mixed through (cold).

If the dog has eaten before and is sick, go to the vet.

If she hasn't eaten and is bringing up yellow bile, give her a tiny bit of food. She's producing stomach acid with nothing to digest.

Try and get the dog to drink some water to stop dehydration, you really should go to the vet and not ask amateurs like us.
Put 2 pepto bismol tablets in some peanut butter and he will eat without even knowing. I give it to my lab and it works great everytime. Make sure he drinks water afterwards to help activate the pills.
well im in the uk 2 and i advise u 2 give your dog white rice and mix it in with all his other food. (1 cup of rice every meal)
What are these people thinking??! Do not let him eat grass!! That's a good way to upset his stomach even more.
There is one universal protocol that all veterinarians will call for in the first few days.
Take him off all food for 24 hours.
The following day feed him only a bit of rice. Can be minute rice, brown rice, doesn't matter.
On the third day you can start to mix in some plain, bland, cooked hamburger and carry that on for two days. By the fourth day he should be back on his regular dog food again. Remember what is best for him is very small portions many times a day.
Most likely he just ate something that didn't agree with him. If you tried a new dog food, you may have switched it too quickly. If you gave him a new kind of treat, bone, etc., do not give it to him again.
Be careful of dehydration, which can happen with a lot of vomiting or diarrhea. If during this process you feel he's getting sicker, or if after the three days he's not improved, take him to the vet, along with a stool sample if possible. Take him in right away if you see blood in his stool or vomit. Good luck!!
My vet has recommended that I make some porridge, or cooked rice. use a beef or chicken broth for flavour. My dog will eat it plain.it settles their stomach. However do insure what is causing the upset before treating..with anything.
