My dog has become very aggressive with other dogs. How do I control her?

She will attack other dogs without any warning, usually over food but sometimes over some object. I don't want to put her down, but I have very few options. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There has to be a reason why she's doing this - there always is. But your best bet is dog obedience training, where she will learn who the "alpha" is in your family. If you don't show her through proper training, she will never learn and it would be a shame to put a good dog down. Not a good idea to put food out for her when there are other dogs around - that's a recipe for failure right there. She is just being possessive. Dog obedience training will teach her to sit, stand, stay, down and heel - that way she will be under your control.
And you NEVER use negative things such as punishment - you will then make her vicious. It's all about rewards for good behavior and ignoring bad behavior.
Take her to a training school, and punish her when she misbehaves.

She just loves you. Have you been paying attention to her more often then usual, by throwing a ball and taking her for more walks then average?

You might be spoiling her with to much love and she might be reacting to this by getting jealous of other dogs.
Tell her to stop and punish her. If she doesn't stop take her away from other dogs or take her to a disipline school.
Watch the Dog Wisperer!! but on a serious note, you should put her in a situation where she would normally attack other dogs and stop her and yell "NO!" if she shows any hint of attacking and, most importantly, you should reward her for good behavior with a treat or something.
Remove the stimuli that makes her attack. If it's food feed her seperately from other dogs ,if it is some other object keep things off of the floor. You have to find her triggers then remove them.
How Old is She? They are never to old to teach behavior to. I got my shepherd/mix to, believe it or not, leave cats alone. Choker around her neck, if she is a big dog, Just be Firm and consistent. Every day practice trying to take her favorite toy or something she likes. I Hope it works. And know it is not cruel. Because when you give the command and she does it you loosen your grip and she is fine. Hope this helps. Good Luck. P.S. My dog was 9 when I had to teach him and his sister abouts the cats because we moved and there were strays I used to care for.
Mike, don't you dare put that dog down,it won't rest easy on your mind,it will haunt you like forever,if nothing works how about getting in touch with P.E.T.A. they do some real good work, explain to them what the dog is doing,Good Luck.
