My Dog has fleas. Has anyone used biospot? I heard (after I bought it) that it doesn't work very well.?

I gave him one application 2 days ago, but I saw 2 fleas on his belly this morning. How long is it supposed to take to get rid or them and at what point should I give him a bath and a new flea medicine? Help him! He's just a baby!

Is biospot generic? As in bought from Wal-mart? If so don't use it. They use real pesticide and can cause all kinds of problems with your pet. (My friend's cat had an allergic reaction to it and the vet said that the reason was because they had pesticides in them and could make them sick or have an allergic reaction.)

I would suggest asking your vet and buying the flea medication he suggests. It will work well and in the long run be a lot cheaper because it will work the first time around instead of keep trying "trial" flea medications.

Also, you may need to get something for your house. Flea bombs or even the product sold to kill fleas in your carpets will work well to kill any fleas that may cause reinfestation with your puppy.
i would use frontline it kills all fleas in 24 hours and if used once a month stops them for life
Frontline is the way to go but animal needs to stay dry for 24hrs before and after. Check with you vet on reappling more pesticides it could be fatal
LUCKY YOU YOUR DOG MAY HAVE FLEAS BUT AT LEAST IT GETS TO LIVE!
Frontline is the best
Never use BioSpot or any other flea treatment sold at WalMart. Only buy it from a veterinarian. I work at an animal hospital and we recommend Frontline. It should kill all fleas w/in 24 hours and lasts for one month. Whoever said in their answer that it kills them forever is wrong. One application lasts one month. After you apply it make sure to keep you pet dry for at least 48 hours.
1. How young is this dog?? Most flea products are not safe for dogs under 4 months old.

2. Biospot is an over-the-counter treatment, which is not as effective as the treatments you can buy from your vet. IF your dog is old enough (ask the vet for his opinion) buy some Frontline Plus or Advantix for your dog.

3. DO NOT APPLY ANY MORE BIOSPOT FRONTLINE OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR 4 WEEKS! You could poison your dog!

4. Go to the petstore and buy a flea comb and a bottle of flea spray. It can be for the dog or the yard, it doesn't matter because you're not putting it on the dog anyway. Put some in a shallow dish, and run the comb over the dog. Drown all the fleas you catch in the bowl of flea spray. It can be tedious, but it's the safest way to go.

5. If you're still having a big problem in a week or two, buy some flea shampoo. If your dog is 6 months or younger, make sure you find puppy flea shampoo! If he's older than 6 months, you can use adult flea shampoo. Don't let it get in his eyes, and make sure he soaks in it for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.

Make sure you treat your house and yard as well, or you may have more problems.
I highly recommended using the frontline.
You get what you pay for.

Better to use advantage or frontline
hi,i have 2 pitbulls.2yrs old i have had them since 4 wks old and i have used frontline on them and they have never had fleas.u give them a bath bfore giving the treatment.its cheap to.i pay $12.00 dollars for a 3 month supply for one dog,it is so cheap and it works but u can only buy it a veternarians office.but i promise it works.thanx for listening. heather_spencer85@yahoo.com
I use Bio Spot and have for over ten years. I use it on my 3 dogs and on all the rescues that I have had. It does work. I do start useing it before my dogs get fleas. The fleas would have left your dog within 24 hrs, however, if you have them in your carpet, they are still looking for a meal and will jump on the dog. You need to treat your house also!

  1. I gave my 13 y/o jack russell terrier a frontline treatment 36 hours ago and my wife also gave him a treatment one day later. Will this be a toxic dose? What side effects should we be looking for? Any antidote? Please advise.
