my dog has gone in for a triple pelvic osteotomy. Has anyone's dog had this done and was it successful?

my dog is 8 months old and is having 1 of his hips done there not sure about the other hip because of his age. i just want some real life stories of dogs who have had the surgery.
Answers:
don't know about the operation, but I hope you have your dog insured or you have a good bank book Natalie, the op will cost a bomb, but good luck anyway hope he will be ok.
Yes,my German shepherd had this done when he was 7 months old.He was a stray who had been hit by a car near my house(he was 4 months old). The police were going to shoot him,so I took him.He had a dislocated hip.It was successfully repaired, but he would never walk on it,and his muscles were starting to atrophy,so it was decided to do the surgery, and he did very well.He lived to be 14 years old.
i'm a veterinary nurse for 6 years now and i have seem many t.p.o's. i can not recall one that went wrong or that had complications. i have also seem doulble t.p.o.'s when they are both done at the same time and although the dog found it a little hard for the first few days they were fine also. have faith if it was needed then i'm sure your dog will be fine. i know 8 months old is still so young, their still only babies, but at that age they bouce back quicker and recover very well. you will have more problems keeping him quiet post op!
