My dog has horrifying breath.. granted he is getting old but isn't there anything i can do about this??

Answers:
Sure,
bad breath is a result usually with 3 things.
Poor diet
Dirty teeth
or rotten teeth.

Brushing a dogs teeth is very important. Laser dental cleaning is an awesome result (something we do with every retired racer - there teeth are terrible)
With that said, sometimes after the laser cleaning, the dog will continue to have rotten breath.
9 x's out of ten, its a bad tooth, that needs pulled.
It happens to humans as well, when the teeth go bad, ex: loosing a filling, abscess, or cavity starting.
mouthwash spray
Friendly Hello, There are different kind of doggy breath mints you can purchase. Some work well while others seem to make the breath worse. Blessings, Kelly
he needs to have his teeth cleaned, they do it at the vet under a general anaesthetic. Have a look at his teeth i bet they are very dirty. Because of his age he will have a build up of tartar
they have dog breath dog treats, just fo to the local pet store and look in the treat isle. i had to get some for my cat, they work AWSOME! good luck with stinky! lol
get his teeth cleaned and give him hard snack bones to keep the tartar away!! Make sure he doesn't have a underlying disease= d
You can try brushing his teeth, but it doesn't usually help very much with bad breath. Also give him crunchy food and treats which are abrasive to his teeth.
He probably needs to have his teeth cleaned at your vet's office, which costs around $100. They take off all the dental tarter which helps to keep his teeth healthier too. Although it helps with the bad breath, for some reason it won't eliminate it.
Jeez, get the dog to the vet. That is a sign of rotting teeth! Older dogs are prone to this and the dog may need a dental cleaning. Rotting teeth can lead to kidney failure and heart problems.
well there are many types things you can use from a pet store but home remedy is
1.. use mint in his water bowl
2.. you even use alittle vinegar
also you get clean rag and clean his mouth and add alittle chorophyll on the rag .
plus get denture bones toohelp clean teeth and breathe
They do make mints for dogs. They also make breath strips for dogs.
There are also treats you can buy which help bad breath. my dog gets one in morning and before bed. They also help reduce tartar build-up. Also, you might want to invest in a toothbrush and toothpaste for your dog. Remember, you can't use fluoride so be sure you buy them at a pet store. Bad breath is caused by bacteria and germs - so help your dog out and brush his teeth for him!
you should have the vet ,clean your dogs teeth!! there are biscuits called breath busters. i use those for my dog, along with greenies.
you can brush there teeth or give hima a chew bone..and now i saw it on t.v that has food with breath cleaner in them..try that
