my dog has wounds from barb wire (from 48 hours ago). is it too late to get stitches? i cleaned them well.?

i heard that the vet can go in and cut off the rough or dead edges around the wound and then sew the wound up for a fairly cosmetic finish. is this true? have i waited too long to take her in? I just didn't want to pay an emergency fee and wait all night. she seems fine--no bleeding. just 3 gaping holes around the tops of her legs and shoulder.

If she were my dog, I would take her in to the vet first thing in the morning. He will probably want to take some stitches and clean it out really good and put her on antibiotics-oral, cream or triple antibiotic cream (OTC) The decision should be made by a vet. it is very hard to keep an open wound clean without stitches in it.
Good luck with her and yes, he can clean it up a lot better than you or I could cause that's his job.
If you think her wounds need stitching, take her in.
You really need to get this dog to the vet ASAP and get the wounds checked out. You don't want this to turn into something nasty.
ok its too late to get stiches but give him a tetnus shot from the vet !(very importaint!)
By now the vet would probably NOT suture . But it may need to be cleaned up and put on antibiotics so your dog doesn't get an infection
Waiting to get the medical treament may have caused your vet bills to sky rocket. The vet will have to remove the dead tissue(surgacly) and then stich it up. The vet will probley have to add drainage tubes to allow any infected fluids to drain. These tubes will have to be checked weekly until the wounds are healed plus he'll likely be on antibiotics. Trust me we found out the hard way. Our dog attacked a cat(don't worry the cats fine) the cat bit his leg(nothing big or anything, just a small wound which we didn't think needed a vet to look at). Well after a few days Buddys leg swelled right up and we rushed him to the vet. He had to have surgary 2 times, weekly bandage changing and drainage tube check, and antibiotics. His bills came to well over $2000 for a simple cat bite!
go to your local farm supply and get CutHeal wound medication. It will heal them up perfectly. my dog stuck her nose into the other dog's kennel and got a big gash ( 2 inches long) that was split open to over a half an inch wide. I found it about the same amount of time from injury as you did. I used Cutheal and it healed up to a perfect little line (2 inches long and a pencil lead width) **note** cut heal smells like a fish.. some people find it very offensive lol BUT IT WORKS!
