My dog found a killed a rat in my home. Do I need to worry about rabies or other diseases from the rodent?

Answers:
Only if he's not vaccinated.
He should be fine.
Unless you had poison down. If the rat had poison in it's system, the dog can be poisoned too.
NO-your dog will be ok.
I would take the dog to the vet and let them know of the situation or even call. They might want to do some testing.
If you think he ingested the rodent or any part, take him to vet but if not, keep an eye on him see how he does within a couple of days you should know if t is bad or not.
has ur dog had it's rabbies shot? if so, it shoudl be fine..
but it wouldn't hurt to take ur pup for a check up
No, my cat kills mice, moles, birds. I think the thing they get most from rodents are worms, so if he has had his shots and is up to date, I wouldn't worry. the chances of a rat having rabies ispretty nil. In VA the problems come with racoons, not rats.
For the dog or for you? Your dog IS vaccinated for rabies, right? So he'll be OK. Unless the rat bit someone they can't get rabies. The only disease rats can transmit without biting/body fluid contact is plague through their fleas-this is pretty rare so I think you're safe.
DO NOT WORRY JUST HAVE YOUR DOG'S CHECKUP
no- the only way that a dog can get rabies from another animal is if the animal bit the dog. last year i called a vet when my dog killed a squirrel and he said that it was nothing to worry about as long as the squirrel didnt bite the dog.
It's probably ok, but you should take the rat to a Vet or even human resources, where they'll test for rabies and other diseases. It may be a good idea to have your dog put in quaranteen until the results are known.
no your dog is good to go. if you have rat poi sen down then you may want to worry. i have two dogs. a peek and a Chihuahua, they're not dead yet.
