My dog got in the fridge and ate uncooked sausage. What can happen to him?

Likely some very messy stools, but if he is a medium sized or larger dog he should be fine..He may have gas, and a lot of tummy growling..Don't worry about parasites or disease..there hasn't been a report of finding trichinosis in uncooked commercially grown pork in 20 years..

He could experience loose stools and vomiting from the grease and that will be normal, but he shouldn't run a high fever or become lethargic. If he does, then he's contracted some kind of food poisoning and you should get him to the vet quickly.

Dogs are gifted with virtually an iron gut. My dog has eaten some things that I thought would be the death of him, yet, after a few sessions of gas clouds from hell and dragging his butt around the yard, he has always been ok. I would say expect gas, runs, maybe vomit (make sure he does not re- eat it if he does vomit) but he should be ok, lots of water, regular dry food. He might get healthier. I've been feeding my dog naturally for about 5 years now with no problem. (Raw meat, raw bones, veggies, dairy.) As everyone has already said, you may see some digestive upset due to sudden change in diet. He'll probably be totally fine. Dogs can easily ingest bacteria that would be harmful to humans, for examply, salmonella doesn't phase them at all. In fact, they can make use of certain bacteria to aid in digestion, which is one of the reasons they dig up and munch away on things that have been rotting.
