I thought that when dogs were neutered, they didn't do this, and he doesn't do it to any of his other toys, only Elmo. Is this normal?
Answers:
I guess Hump-Me Elmo has got to go. Some dogs will retain some of their humping instincts even when neutered. Besides the obvious sexual function, humping is a way that dogs assert dominance (even some female dogs hump). For some reason, this dog has to keep letting Elmo know who is top dog, meaning that Elmo must look like some kind of threat. I'd find Elmo a new home.
The links below discuss the issue of humping behavior in neutered dogs. Hope you find them helpful.
no i would get rid of elmo!! that is horrible or teach it some disapline and wip him everytime he does it to the doll!!
Its possible the dog might still hump. How long ago was the surgery? The hormones don't get out of the system right away.
I had a chihuahua who did this with a stuffed rabbit. The best thing to do is put elmo out of reach.
yes it is very normal all dogs do it well males anyway.have his testicles cut and it will slow down, but wont stop..or if hes a pup all pups do it,and he might grow out of it..
Who's Elmo? Perhaps it's Elma, a neutered female and they are trying to tell you something! Would you like it if a dog kept you as a toy?
because elmo is a sexy beast ;) lol
That's gross, why would you announce that fact to thousands of people on yahoo?
